I know this may sound wierd since I run the game, but...
What do all of you think about non-standard moves that are learned due to plot reasons? Allow me to give a couple examples...
Pokemon Trainer Tom Ato is raising his Raichu in the old abandoned Power Plant. (nobody said Tom was bright) During the training he and his Raichu are beset on all sides by Voltorbs eager to get a dose of Raichu's energy. In a fit of desperation, Raichu takes a couple of life wires and uses them to supercharge himself for a few attacks. The energy leaves Raichu with the ability to focus the paralizing power of electricity into the mighty Zap Cannon attack.
Or...Cooltrainer Anne Chovie has just beaten the Fighting Gym, but has no wish to take either of the prized fighting pokemon in the gym. Still wishing to give something, the leader of the Gym offers to teach the main pokemon (a Marowak) that beat them a powerful Fighting type move. Later on, Anne is faced with a speedy Sneasel which is capable of defeating her Marowak. In a surprise move, she orders Marowak to use the move she learned, Mach Punch and makes quick work of even the normally faster Sneasel.

I'm not for it.
I have no problem with moves that you could learn in past games but not current ones (ex. In RBY all pokemon could learn metronome) or by using box or a nintendo event, but I think learning moves that they normally can't is cheap.

I like the idea, it'll add some variety to the battles.

It seems like a novel idea. ((BTW, I love the names Tom Ato and Anne Chovie.... FOOD!))

I hated that episode, it was the most stupidest thing that I ever saw.
Plus I am so for the idea, it helps thinking of many other stratigies. It makes things alot more fun

I"m for it if the move makes sense for that pokemon to learn. Example: Steelix with Iron Defense. He does not have it naturally, but come on, it would be perfect for him.

So couldn't Charmeleon then learn horn drill? Since it has a horn, why not? How about Thunder Punch? Or Solar Beam? Lord knows I've always wished my Charizard could use Solar Beam. Tail Glow seems like a move it should know too. So does Super Fang While we're at it, I don't see how any pokemon with legs shouldn't be able to learn Double/Triple Kick. And every non-mechanical pokemon should be able to learn Yawn. Seriously, how skilled does a pokemon have to be to yawn? The point of all this ranting is to say that we can't just make up our own rules of what the pokemon can and can't learn. Sure, now, there's no way a pikachu is going to learn Psycho Boost. But, if we keep moving the line farther and farther back who's to say that, at some point, every pokemon won't know Mind Reader and Sheer Cold?

Well...it's more like Yawning ON COMMAND. Tail Glow would've been a very clever move to give to the Chars...Solar Beam however is more like channeling photosynthesis into a...high powered energy weapon...so its understandable that only plants and the lord of the sun can use it.

aren't rules supposed to broken sometimes the people who made pokemon already set moves for pokemon, doing a few tweaks won't hurt us much. Plus it is just for fun. All we are not going to do is doing drastic things like teaching moves that are outragous

Well...Houndour and Houndoom can learn Solarbeam as can Flygon actually. Being a grass move I know most of the pokemon that can learn it ^^; Anyway, it's not going to be a common occurance, but I wanted to know before I did it and made anyone upset. I have a plot point I wanted to do...but the only way I could think of doing it is with a certain move that no pokemon that anyone currently has could have. I'm not so cheap as to have my NPC's magically have a pokemon JUST for the occasion.

Fine then, we'll see how it goes. But nothing too drastic.
