Kimiko had one eyebrow raised. "What's up with him?"

"Somebody won, true, but... somebody lost, too. It seems a bit too violent to settle a dispute about money," Dirk says. "I'm not a betting man, so maybe that's why I don't see the thrill in it. But don't you make a lot of enemies running little side shows like that?"
Dirk watched him walk off, not really feeling the need to follow. "Guys like him are the types to seriously watch out for. You guys probably didn't catch it, but he said there's some kind of underground ring of pokemon fights... and there's a competition tonight down at the docks."
Dirk was unsure whether or not this is something worth checking out. If this were just some normal betting ring he wouldn't care less, but he definitely felt there was something sinister going on here. And his instincts were always good.

Ahz glared at the man in the black coat. "You think this is a game!? Pokemon destroying each other like that! You think Pokemon are just a way to make money you swine!?!" He roared. His hood flew off from a gust of wind as he moved to stop the man before he left. "How dare you!" Ahz began to have flash backs and sudden fell to his knees holding his head in his hands. "AGGGHH!" he shreeked as the pain washed over him.

((lol, real dramatic wind, Rick. ;D))
Richard stopped moving the instant the man got in his way. He could have made a threat, attacked him himself, or done a number of other harmful things.
Instead, he said stared the man right in his eyes and said, "How dare I what? I didn't hurt these pokemon. The trainers could have recalled them and walked away at any time. The pokemon could have refused to fight at any time. You know it's illegal to make a pokemon fight if it doesn't want to. As for the people, I didn't put a gun to their heads and make them bet."
Richard then looked at the other two as he said, "Everyone here did everything on their own free will."
He looked back at the man who stopped him. "Or were you referring to something else?"

Hm.
Dirk had been right. This guy's eyes spoke of something much deeper than a simple, casual passerby, especially to the observant explorer. He could feel it, and he wasn't too sure if it was a good idea to start a fight now.
He watched Richard with a stoic look, not giving a clear message of being for or against.

"I-" Azh began to try to get up. "I hate them... " Ahz mumbled. "I-I" He stood up straight, he smiled "You're right.... How silly of me, they are the ones to blame... All of them..." He sneered and let the man pass. "Pardon my blocking your path," He said bowing graciously.

((Time for ridiculous banter to start a fight.))
Richard was about to leave but the explorer's look rubbed him the wrong way.
"I challenge you to a pokemon battle. Go, Charcolt!"

Dirk took a step back, putting a hand on rhyhorn's head. "Challenging me? Fine. On one condition, then... I'll refrain from using rock blast, and you won't be using metal claw."
Rhyhorn takes a step forward, a blank look on its face. "Rhyhorn, let's give him hell."

BanovG2 (7:21:45 PM): Meanwhile I'll describe to him our arena BanovG2 (7:21:53 PM): Which is the Liltcove mall rooftop. BanovG2 (7:21:59 PM): Lilycove* dragon5100 (7:22:00 PM): hmmm dragon5100 (7:22:10 PM): dont forget the blood on the ground dragon5100 (7:22:15 PM): small puddle dragon5100 (7:22:19 PM): somewhere in the middle BanovG2 (7:22:21 PM): very flat, with guard rails along the sides BanovG2 (7:22:28 PM): blood splatter, yes. Phaerix Arothes (7:22:30 PM): right. how wide is the floor? dragon5100 (7:22:33 PM): no vending machines BanovG2 (7:22:34 PM): and stairs dragon5100 (7:22:36 PM): hmmm BanovG2 (7:22:44 PM): I'm no good at dimensions dragon5100 (7:22:46 PM): 20 x 15? dragon5100 (7:22:51 PM): feet BanovG2 (7:22:59 PM): sure dragon5100 (7:23:03 PM): there are tables and chairs right? BanovG2 (7:23:25 PM): I was thinking no dragon5100 (7:23:28 PM): k Phaerix Arothes (7:24:40 PM): Okay. Now that the arena's in place, please send me your name, Pokemon, its level and attacks. Phaerix Arothes (7:26:22 PM): Alright, I think now you two send me your moves? BanovG2 (7:26:35 PM): yep. dragon5100 (7:26:43 PM): already did Phaerix Arothes (7:36:28 PM): Dirk's Move: Phaerix Arothes (7:36:29 PM): BanovG2 (7:27:40 PM): "Rhyhorn, charge it and use fury attack, keep it at bay... we don't want it blocking us too much with smokescreen." Phaerix Arothes (7:36:40 PM): The rocky rhino charges forward as he's used to doing, letting loose a rapid series of ramming attacks with its horn, chasing it down and trying to keep it on the run Phaerix Arothes (7:36:48 PM): Richard's Move: Phaerix Arothes (7:37:00 PM): dragon5100 (7:30:46 PM): Charcolt is ordered to get out of the way of any attacks and growl Phaerix Arothes (7:37:06 PM): Judgement: Phaerix Arothes (7:41:10 PM): The Rhyhorn, true to its nature, barrels forward at a rocky pace. The flame lizard, however, has other plans. It tries to evade, and for the most part, it does. However, the Rhyhorn is not out of luck, as a few strikes out of the -- Phaerix Arothes (7:42:29 PM): many attacks made make contact with the Charmander. Charcolt, in retaliation, tries to enfeeble the Rhyhorn and make its attacks less powerful with Growls. Thankfully for Charcolt, one of the growls he made came just before the -- Phaerix Arothes (7:44:17 PM): first of the Fury Attacks hit home. However, the Rhyhorn is not completely weakened, so the Charmander's got a few nicks and scrapes to worry about. Phaerix Arothes (7:44:24 PM): Status Report: Phaerix Arothes (7:45:36 PM): The Rhyhorn is just fine, just feeling a bit sapped of strength. Charcolt has a bit of damage on his belly and lower left side -- nothing too drastic. Phaerix Arothes (7:45:43 PM): Locations Confirmed: Phaerix Arothes (7:47:02 PM): The Rhyhorn is nearly parallel to the guardrails, and is facing the corner. Charcolt is just off to the side about three feet from the Rhyhorn's head. Phaerix Arothes (7:47:11 PM): Send me your next actions! Phaerix Arothes (7:49:10 PM): (And for reference, the blood puddle is behind Charcolt at about four or five feet.) Phaerix Arothes (9:24:24 PM): and for Dirk: Phaerix Arothes (9:24:26 PM): BanovG2 (8:38:03 PM): "Okay, rhyhorn, keep up the offensive! He's probably planning on hitting you with range, so just keep in his face. Lead with tail whip to lower his guard an fury attack from there." Phaerix Arothes (9:24:37 PM): BanovG2 (8:39:31 PM): Rhyhorn twists around, slapping the charmander with its tail to keep its guard down and then finishing its spin, charging forward and pursuing with more fury attack, being sure not to let it slip away. Phaerix Arothes (9:24:48 PM): followed by Richie: Phaerix Arothes (9:24:57 PM): dragon5100 (9:21:49 PM): Richard: Charcolt blast it with dragon rage as it's turning and then jump away to the left and growl Phaerix Arothes (9:26:44 PM): Judgement: Phaerix Arothes (9:33:10 PM): The Rhyhorn does something a little unexpected in terms of its nature. It wags its tail cutely, leading the Charmander into a false sense of security. It breathes out a deep blue flame, which impacts the rhino-lookalike on its -- Phaerix Arothes (9:35:47 PM): left hip. As the Charmander jumps to the left, it's led to believe due to the tail whip it has a higher advantage. This overconfidence leads it to be rammed a few times by the Rhyhorn's horn. Thankfully the Rhyhorn's confidence -- Phaerix Arothes (9:37:12 PM): had been lowered due to the growling earlier, so it didn't hit quite as hard as Dirk would have liked. And then Charcolt breathes another growl, further shifting the Rhyhorn's confidence. Phaerix Arothes (9:37:23 PM): Status Report: Phaerix Arothes (9:39:00 PM): The Rhyhorn has a bit of singed rock on its rump, and is a little cautious. Charcolt is a little better for the wear, but received a number of blows to the belly, so that's feeling rather sore. Also, it has a bit less -- Phaerix Arothes (9:39:14 PM): innate self-preservation due to the tail whip. Phaerix Arothes (9:39:24 PM): Locations: Phaerix Arothes (9:40:45 PM): Charcolt is right up against the guardrail, at about the middle point between two corners. The Rhyhorn is dead center, standing just above the puddle, and facing the opposite corner it was just in. Charcolt, therefore is to the -- Phaerix Arothes (9:41:02 PM): Rhyhorn's four o'clock position. Phaerix Arothes (9:44:06 PM): Dirk: Phaerix Arothes (9:44:31 PM): "He's being very cute with his growls, but he isn't getting many hits in. Rhyhorn, forget tail whip. Just charge it and hit as hard and fast as you can. Try to incercept it from using growl." Phaerix Arothes (9:44:46 PM): BanovG2 (9:42:37 PM): Rhyhorn gives an uninspiring grunt, twisting and charging forward with no reserve. It can hardly comprehend getting hit, let alone feeling endangered. Phaerix Arothes (9:44:55 PM): BanovG2 (9:43:08 PM): It rams and rams with everything it can, trying to drive the salamander into a corner. Phaerix Arothes (9:44:59 PM): Rich: Phaerix Arothes (9:45:12 PM): dragon5100 (9:43:05 PM): Richard: Charcolt, blast it with dragon rage again and then run in the direction it's turning. Keep as far from it's line of sight as you can Phaerix Arothes (9:45:18 PM): dragon5100 (9:43:09 PM): Then growl Phaerix Arothes (9:45:23 PM): Judgement: Phaerix Arothes (9:50:13 PM): Charcolt goes on the offensive and breathes blue flames out to the Rhyhorn's rump again. However, this hit full-on, rather than trying to hit a moving target. The Rhyhorn was blasted as it started to turn, but it ignored that -- Phaerix Arothes (9:52:04 PM): pain and turned like a drunken hippo -- they just don't have a very kind turning speed. At any rate, the Charmander runs along just fine, keeping to the Rhyhorn's rear. All it does is growl, though, so the Rhyhorn's attempts to -- Phaerix Arothes (9:52:32 PM): ram may prove to be difficult. And the round pretty much ends there. Phaerix Arothes (9:52:36 PM): Status Report: Phaerix Arothes (9:54:24 PM): Rhyhorn's rear is just about fried, and its tail has seen better days. It's still usable though, given a Rhyhorn's endurance and lacklustre intelligence. Charcolt is doing chipper, and has no new damage to report. Its belly has -- Phaerix Arothes (9:54:28 PM): also seen better days. Phaerix Arothes (9:54:35 PM): Location, Location, Location: Phaerix Arothes (9:55:39 PM): Rhyhorn has done a complete 180-degree turn in the course of this round, and the Charmander is just about at its heels, fully behind the Rhyhorn.. Blood puddle is still directly underneath the Rhyhorn. Phaerix Arothes (9:55:54 PM): Awaiting commands! Phaerix Arothes (9:59:35 PM): Dirk: Phaerix Arothes (9:59:55 PM): BanovG2 (9:57:37 PM): "Rhyhorn... it's right behind you. Take a big step backwards now and knock it off its feet; tail whip for good measure; then just keep backing up into it with fury attack. Get into into a corner." Phaerix Arothes (10:00:04 PM): BanovG2 (9:57:58 PM): Rhyhorn dumbly leaps backward, slamming the salamander with its ass. Phaerix Arothes (10:00:14 PM): BanovG2 (9:58:21 PM): It wags its tail to theow it off, then just starts charging and ramming it... in reverse. Phaerix Arothes (10:00:47 PM): dragon5100 (9:57:41 PM): Charcolt, you are close enough! Jump away and in the direction it's turning while you are using dragon rage Phaerix Arothes (10:00:58 PM): dragon5100 (9:57:55 PM): dont jump until it turns Phaerix Arothes (10:01:06 PM): dragon5100 (9:58:11 PM): if it doesn't move let the dragon rages rip Phaerix Arothes (10:03:05 PM): Judgement~! For 100 at base power: Phaerix Arothes (10:05:03 PM): The Rhyhorn meets two warm things on its way backwards -- a Dragon Rage aimed straight for its ass, and then the warm body of a dry salamander. And then it rushes out, and then backs in again. Like a silly truck driver. Which is -- Phaerix Arothes (10:06:36 PM): pretty amusing if you think of it. But in the interims when the Rhyhorn is rushing out, the Charmander is slightly dazed, but nonetheless breathing out blue fire. Considering the rhino never turned, it's still waiting for the big -- Phaerix Arothes (10:06:53 PM): gray block to turn. It's getting pummeled. Phaerix Arothes (10:07:07 PM): Blissey says: Phaerix Arothes (10:08:00 PM): Rhyhorn's rump is being burned pretty badly. While Rhyhorns are known for resilience, it's not very pleasant back there anymore. Charmander's seeing the worse end of the bargain here -- Phaerix Arothes (10:08:49 PM): and is being banged pretty heavily between a rock and a hard place. No pun intended. It's not going to take much more. A few more Dragon Rages to Rhyhorn's rump will make the armored skin tender. Phaerix Arothes (10:09:17 PM): The aerial Yanmega for surveillance has just notified me of positioning: Phaerix Arothes (10:09:58 PM): Charcolt is in a corner. Rhyhorn is running out of that corner. I think it's self-explanatory from there. Further questions over IM. Phaerix Arothes (10:10:04 PM): Your commands? Phaerix Arothes (10:14:51 PM): Receiving, headquarters. Phaerix Arothes (10:15:03 PM): dragon5100 (10:12:06 PM): Charcolt get out of that corner now Phaerix Arothes (10:15:11 PM): dragon5100 (10:12:26 PM): run to your left and keep the dragon rages blazing as you do Phaerix Arothes (10:15:20 PM): dragon5100 (10:12:51 PM): once you are from rhyhorn, run towards the center Phaerix Arothes (10:15:37 PM): BanovG2 (10:11:53 PM): "Rhyhorn... now's your chance to turn around. It's dazed and will probably try to move now, so just turn to keep your rump away from it so it doesn't take any more abuse. Phaerix Arothes (10:15:46 PM): BanovG2 (10:12:18 PM): We haven't got much else to do. Keep ramming it, like you do best." Phaerix Arothes (10:16:27 PM): BanovG2 (10:13:55 PM): Rhyhorn, while keeping its forward mtoion, spins around so that its head faces the charmander. With its armored front on display, its just charges Phaerix Arothes (10:16:34 PM): forward through anything that's dished out at it, aiming to hit charmander in the belly some more. Phaerix Arothes (10:16:57 PM): And we rain down the pillars of light~ ...for judgement. Phaerix Arothes (10:19:09 PM): The Charmander tries to shake off its damage, and makes a run along the guardrail to its left. In that time, the Rhyhorn gets its preconceived chance to turn around, but its rump doesn't escape one final blue fire before the rest -- Phaerix Arothes (10:21:15 PM): of it washes over the Rhyhorn's left side and a bit of its face. It shrugs off those hits and though enfeebled, it still makes its way towards the retreating Charmander. The Blue Fire then comes pelting straight for its face, and -- Phaerix Arothes (10:23:10 PM): that kind of attack is piercing, even for something as heavily armored as a Rhyhorn. Granted, its defense against this type of attack is somewhat up for debate, but it manages to awkwardly jab its horn into the Charmander's side, -- Phaerix Arothes (10:26:24 PM): sending it into the guardrail before crumpling itself. The Rhyhorn gives a triumphant roar, beckoning the Charmander to rise. It does so, though very weakly, and breathes a puff of blue fire before collapsing. Phaerix Arothes (10:27:37 PM): Before Dirk a Yanmega holds up a sign that reads, "You are victorious!" Phaerix Arothes (10:27:50 PM): This game's winner is... Dirk!

((Sorry guys, but after first hand witnessing the battle style that will now be used, I've come to the conclusion that this is no longer anything like Rock's RP. I thought that I'd be ok with a non-dm'd rp, but, the truth is, with subjective calls on what the attack does once it hits and a non-dm'd storyline, I've decided to quit this RP.
If Rock ever comes back or you start dm'ing again, hit me up. I'd love to be a part of that.))
Richard recalled Charcolt and sneered as he returned it to his belt.
"You haven't seen the last of Richard Froy. Now, Good bye, forever!"
With that, he quickly dashed down the stairs.

((Goodbye, Dave. I'm sorry to see you go.
I said this to you by IM and I say it to everyone else-- I made the rules topics, but I claim no leadership. If anybody has any issues with the rules, don't hesitate to make discussion topics and see what popular opinion is.))
Dirk gives rhyhorn a light congratulatory pat on the head and then takes it back into his ball to rest. "So..." he says, turning to his awkwardly silent companions, "What now?"
