((Closed topic for Kimiko and Dirk only.))
There was a rather short young lady waiting by the south entrance of Eterna City. A soft, lulling breeze was blowing by, picking up the girl's dark locks in long, flowing wisps. She blinked for a moment, and then started to get pumped. She was going to go for her first Pokemon capture.
Her name, you say?
Kimiko Wakana looked at her surroundings. It was sunset, and the city was starting to shut down for the night. Street lights flicker on as the sun lowers from the horizon and the sky ever darkening. Which was fine by the brown-eyed one, as her hunt was for a nocturnal creature.
However, Mint, her Kirlia companion are weak against the Pokemon that inhabit the place of residence for said creature. It's not a place for Kimiko to explore alone, not yet.
She gazes at the sky and wonders aloud, "Where is that Pokemon Archaeologist?"

"Um... hey." Dirk says, approaching from the south gate. "I... uh, I found this cave on the way up and got a bit distracted. Ahh... sorry. I hope I'm not too late."
Rhyhorn is following lose at his heels, its normal stoic expression. Though, as Dirk's spent more time around Kimiko you can feel he's been a bit more comfortable being expressive...
"Well, I'm ready to go. I'm glad I can finally pay you back for all you've done for me."

Kimiko shrugged a bit. "Ah, it's not late. Not at all. Misdreavus likes to come out late at night." Then she got excited again, a spark in her eyes. "This is going to be an awesome adventure! To the Haunted Mansion!" She did her famous fist-raised pose and started to march in the Eterna Forest.
Mint, who was outside of her pokeball at this time, shivered a bit. She does not like the ghosties her trainer was going to pursue. No, not one bit. But as Kimiko's only other Pokemon that can travel outside of water efficiently and knows something other than to Tackle and Splash, she knew she was just going to have to tough it out. The Kirlia did her best to pull out a tough front by borrowing her trainer's rather cheerful and adventurous mood.

"No worries." Dirk assures to the pale little ballerina. "Rhyhorn and squirtle will keep you covered."
He follows after Kimiko into the woods, glancing back once.

Mint runs after her trainer, not wanting to be left behind in the darkness.
The walk to the Haunted Mansion was not a far one. After a few minutes, they arrive at the front gates. Rusted iron and climbing green ivy greeted them. It was not hard to open, as Kimiko only pushed them them open with very little force. It creaked as it opened, letting out a sickening EeeeeeErRCH as it did.
It was an abandoned mansion to be sure.
But Kimiko wasn't turned off by it. No, siree. It only made her want to rush in for a capture. ADVENTURE!
//Creepiness.// Mint thought as they started to enter the courtyard.
"So, this is the Haunted Mansion, eh?" Kimiko took in her surrounding and took a deep breath. "Oh, it's more awesome than I thought!"

Dirk swallowed.
He was a practical man and a practical thinker. He liked to boast to others about how true ghosts were not real; that there was no true religion, a scientific explanation for everything.
But now, making his way toward the dark mansion... his confidence faltered. Something eery was in the air, though he wasn't too sure Kimiko was picking up on the same thing as him.
"Awesome? Eh... I guess. Stay close, rhyhorn."

No word was exchanged between them when they reached the front entrance. It seemed quite grand, actually, with a huge double door made of ebony and big bronze door knobs and door knockers. Kimiko tried to open it by tugging and twisting on the door knobs, but nothing's doing. She even tried to kick the door down, backing up about ten yards to get a good running start. She jump kicked, making an impact on the door-
BAM!!!
-But, it did more damage to the girl's right foot than it ever did to the huge piece of dark wood, standing up to the test of time.
Kimiko looked at the door with a glare. She simply MUST get that Misdreavus! She softened the look on her face a turned to Dirk. "Do you think that Rhyhorn could go and take a swing at it?"

Dirk can't can't help but reveal a snide grin. "Oh, sure. You know, they say a rhyhorn can knock down entire buildings with his ramming attack."
He pats the rock rhino on the head. "I'd stand back, Kimiko. for your safety."
He kneels down to the rhyhorn's eye level. "Rhyhorn, I want you to ram that door down. Give it everything."
Rhyhorn blinks then stumbles forward, quickly accelerating and then letting loose an all-out ram on the door at breakneck speed. The resounding "CRACK!" can be heard from the nearby town.

Kimiko had backed up a good distance and witnessed as the Rhyhorn rammed the door with everything it got. But after the dust cleared, her sight didn't fail her. The door was STILL standing, fully intact and without much of a dent.
Kimiko rubbed the ebony and said, "Geez, you could of assumed this was made of titanium or something." Her eyes inspected the door a little further.
Mint was absolutely ecstatic. With a cheerful grin, she tried to redirect the group to leave. "Kirla kirla? Kirla, kirlia kirla kir? Kir kirla kirkir kir la kirla-" {Not opening? Ah well, we tried didn't we? Let's go and forget this whole thing-}
Kimiko lifted her index finger to silence the psychic ballerina. "You know, I think I know how to open this." She knocked on one of the bronze door knockers.
The doors creaked wide open on its own accord.
"...Yay! Now I could hunt for the Misdreavus!" The trainer exclaimed, disregarding the eeriness of the phantom gateway and marching right on in.
"Kir." {Fez.}

Dirk blinked uncomfortably at the mysteriously opening door. "I'm sure there's a good reason that happened," he reassured--mostly to himself--before following into the mansion with cautious steps.

They enter the foyer, and you could tell that it hasn't been kept up for, who knows how long? The fancy wallpaper was peeling at some places. The light fixtures were just kinda hanging from a thin, small wire. The carpet, the rich red color it could of been when it was new had faded to a light, but dingy brown. Candles that lit the place was just at the end of there wick and burned out for a long while. and everything was covered in layers of fine dust.
Perfect place for Ghost Pokemon.
Mint wants to go and stay in her pokeball, but decides to stay by her mistress's side.
Then something caught Kimiko's eye. It was a faint purple wisp at the end of the corridor. It was a ghost pokemon to be sure, but Kimiko wasn't sure of what ghost it was. She decided to investigate it further...
The giant doors slammed behind them.
The pokemon with the purple wisp disappeared from Kimiko sight for a moment.
And reappeared right in front of them, growing big and making a very scary face, tongue sticking out and everything.
"Gah!" Kimiko exclaimed, falling back, shocked from that nasty surprise.
Mint looked like she could wet herself if she didn't have too much pride as to not to.

Dirk takes a huge leap back, reactively pointing at the ghost and shouting "RHYHORN, ROCK BLA- "
Pause. Luckily, Dirk had taken a moment to rethink. He was in this ancient mansion that could hold so many important artifacts of historical significance; a move like 'rock blast' would likely wreck it.
Instead, he opts for a more subtle offensive, releasing squirtele with a flash of light. "Squirtle, water gun!"

Kimiko shook her head and took a second look at the thing. "Huh?" It was a huge ghost type--- well, huge to her. At about, three inches taller than her, floating up to make use up the high ceilings, Haunter gave a great laugh, "Haunthaunthaunthaunthaunt!!!"
Obviously, it must be pleased to make a reaction come out of the visitors.
Mint was absolutely frozen. She stood still, pale as a sheet of paper- oh, Kirlias are already white, you say? Okay, fine. A sickly pale, paler than she was before, if possible. "Mint, use Magical Leaf!" Not even her trainer's commands could get through to her. She was just... horrified.
As the Haunter descended it wasn't paying much attention to the command called next. "Squirtle, water gun!" Haunter was hit right5 in the eyes by Squirtle's Water Gun. The ghost was pushing against the stream of water, struggling to see. When the stream finally let up, it was going in for an attack on Squirtle, approaching suddenly...

Dirk stodd his ground; he wasn't feeling particularly brave, facing the haunter, but he was still quick to react. "Squirtle, withdraw!"
Dirk was nervous about attacking haunter again. He chose to stay defensive and wait for it to drop its guard. It hadn't even seemed to notice rhyhorn, so the opportunity for a surprise attack was still open.

That was a great move for Squirtle's trainer to call, as the purple ghost type extended it's floating hand into a fist and hit it's shell. Because of the upped defense, the unmissable blow was not as effective as it should of been. Haunter frowned as his Shadow Punch didn't harm the Squirtle too badly.
The water turtle came out of his shell, winking and making a victory symbol with its hand, and readied for it's next attack.
Haunter will not give up on one failed punch, though! The ghost tried again, but this time attempted to gaze deeply into Squirtle's eyes...
